Obituaries

Kelley Poore

Kelley Poore, 55, Jamestown, Tenn., a former Jay County resident, died Saturday at the Jamestown Regional Medical Center.

Born on Aug. 16, 1952, in Albany, Ky., to Kelley and Iris (Cook) Poore, he was a 1970 graduate of Southside High School.

Retiring from Borg Warner after 30 years, he was a member of the American Legion and Moose Lodge in Dunkirk.

Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Dorothy (Myers) Poore, Jamestown; his mother Iris Poore, Muncie; two sons, Kelley Poore Jr., Portland, and Jeremy Poore, Redkey; a daughter, Mrs. Eric (Angela) Stephens, Dunkirk; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Mike (Anna) Johnson, Hartford City; a stepson, John Slater, Lima, Ohio; 15 grandchildren, two nieces and one nephew.

Services are Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel. Cremation will take place.

Visitation is today from 5 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Olive Lose

Olive J. Lose, 90, Decatur, a Portland native, died Saturday at Woodcrest Retirement Community in Decatur.

Born on Aug. 10, 1917, in Portland, to Orla J. and Cora A. (Bibler) Journay, she was married on Nov. 23, 1950, in Decatur, to Carl J. Lose, who died on June 10, 1991.

She had worked at General Electric Company for 27 years.

Memberships include Zion United Church of Christ, Ladies Guild and Retired Ladies of the G.E.

Survivors include a brother, William H. Journay, Decatur, and several nieces and nephews, including Rex Journay, Greg Stewart and Gary Stewart, all of Portland.

Services are Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Zion United Church of Christ in Decatur with the Rev. Randy Rossman officiating.

Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation is Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Wednesday at Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, 520 N. Second St. in Decatur.

Memorials may be sent to Zion United Church of Christ, St. Mary's Parish Improvement Fund or Fairview United Methodist Church, Portland.

Bertha Timmerman

Bertha L. Timmerman, 100, Fort Recovery, died Friday at The Gardens at St. Henry in St. Henry, Ohio.

Born on Dec. 28, 1907, in Fort Recovery, she was the daughter of Joseph and Pauline (Kaiser) Timmerman.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Sharpsburg, Ohio.

Services are Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Charles Mullen officiating. Burial is in St. Paul Cemetery in Sharpsburg.

Visitation is Wednesday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Brockman-Boeckman Funeral Home in Fort Recovery.

Robert Duval

Graveside services for Robert "Bob" Duval, 87, Albany, were held today at Hill Crest Cemetery in Redkey, with military graveside services conducted by Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard. Duval died Thursday at Albany Health Care and Rehabilitation in Albany.

Born on Aug. 19, 1920, he was a veteran of United States Army, serving in World War II.

He attended North Meridian Street United Methodist Church in Redkey and Fairview United Methodist Church.

He drove a bus for Greyhound and was a member of the Lions Club.

Meacham Funeral Service, Albany, was in charge of the arrangements.
