Local notes
Mad Run will be May 19
Mad Run 2012 will be May 19 at Ambassador Park.
The event, which is a 5K obstacle course that includes mud, will begin at 9 a.m. The entry fee is $60, and the deadline is Tuesday.

Summer swim practice set
The Jay County Summer Swim will begin practice May 7 at the Jay County High School pool.
Practices will be on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays with swimmers 11-and-older from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. and 10-and-younger from 5 to 5:50 p.m. There will also be a new swimmer try-out on May 3 at 4 p.m.

Community swim is Sunday
The Jay County High School pool will be open for a community swim session Sunday.
The community swim will run from 2 to 4 p.m., and the admission fee is $2. An adult must accompany children 12 and younger.

IHSAA meetings scheduled
The IHSAA is hosting meetings to discuss single-class versus multi-class athletics.
There will be meetings May 10 at Marion and May 16 at Connersville.
All meetings will begin at 7 p.m.

JCC hosting events
Jay Community Center will host a volleyball skills clinic beginning May 9, the J. Gordon Meeker Golf Tournament on May 19 at Portland Golf Club and a 2-on-2 basketball tournament on May 26.
The volleyball skills clinic is for boys and girls in grades three through eight. It will be held on Wednesday evenings in May, and the registration fee is $25.
Registration for the four-person golf scramble will be at 7:30 a.m. with the tournament scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. The entry fee is $200 per four-person team.
The basketball tournament, which will begin at 9 a.m., is for players ages 12 and older. The entry fee is $50 per team, and the deadline to register is May 13.
