Rodney Sherley

Rodney Wayne Sherley, 47, Hendersonville, Tenn., died Saturday at his home after a long battle with cancer.
Born in Jay County, he was the son of Larry Dean and Freda Ann (Binkley) Sherley, Dunkirk.
He is survived by his wife Janette C. “Jay” Sherley.
He earned an associates degree from Ball State University and worked as a pharmacy tech.
Surviving besides his wife and parents are a daughter, Brittany House (husband: Matthew) and a son, Dylan Sherley, both of Ashland, Tenn.
A memorial service is Saturday at 2 p.m. at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church in Dunkirk with Pastors Randy Davis and Chris Peterson officiating.
MJS Mortuaries Dunkirk Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Michael Thornburg
April 30, 1945-Aug. 19, 2011
Michael A. Thornburg, 66, 203 W. Second St., Portland, died Friday at his home. His death is under investigation by the Jay County Coroner.
Born in Portland, he was the son of Orville Jack and Mary Elizabeth (Cramett) Thornburg.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy and was self-employed.
Surviving is his brother Jim Thornburg of Indianapolis.
Private services will be held. Baird-Freeman Funeral Home in Portland is in charge of the arrangements.

Pamela Sue Harrell, 60, Muncie, died Saturday at I.U. Health Ball Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
Born in Muncie, she was the daughter of former Portland residents William R. “Richard” and Eva M. “Maxine” (Smith) Flesher, Muncie.
She was a special education teacher for Muncie Community Schools and was Teacher of the Year at Northside Middle School for the 2009-10 school year.
Surviving besides her parents are a daughter, Erika Lyn Raymond (husband: Scott), Indianapolis.
A memorial service will be Tuesday at 6 p.m. at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, with Patricia Stark officiating.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to A.R.F., 1209 W. Riggin Road, Muncie, IN 47303.
