Strikes a fence
An SUV driven by a Ridgeville woman left the roadway and struck a fence on county road 250 West near road 800 South in Jefferson Township Saturday morning.
Tiffany L. Auker, 18, 408 N. Portland St., told Jay County police she was southbound on 250 West about 9:15 a.m. when she looked for something on the passenger’s seat. Her 2000 Ford Explorer went off the west side of the road, striking a culvert and a fence on the property of Rex Powell, 7430 S. 250 West, Portland
Damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.

Car strikes deer
A car driven by a Salamonia woman struck a deer about 6 p.m. Sunday on county road 400 South near road 850 East.
Nila J. Newton, 54, 5931 E. 400 South, told Jay County police she was westbound on 400 South in her 2001 Chevrolet Lumina when the deer entered the roadway. Damage was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
In area courts
Nickolaus M. Roberts, 23, Portland, was sentenced to 10 days in jail in Celina Municipal Court after pleading no contest to a charge of no operator’s license.[[In-content Ad]]
