CITY ACCIDENTS

A Portland man was involved in an accident after his foot slipped off the brake and landed on the gas pedal Saturday at 7:25 p.m.

Cedric M. McAbee, 74, 111 Hickory Court, Portland, told Portland police he was backing up to a kerosene dispenser at Pak-A-Sak, located at 1300 N. Meridian St., Portland, when his foot slipped, causing his vehicle to collide with a parked vehicle registered to Theresa Look, 2258 State Line Road, Portland.

Estimated damage to McAbee’s 1996 Oldsmobile Silhouette and Look’s 1992 Oldsmobile 98, was between $1,000 to $2,500.

DEER ACCIDENT

A Wapakoneta, Ohio man was involved in a vehicle/deer accident Sunday night in Bearcreek Township.

Michael J. Voisin, 37, 611 E. Auglaize St., was traveling east on Ind. 67, near county road 250 West east of Bryant, when a deer entered the road from the south and ran into the side of Voisin’s 1999 Chevrolet Tracker.

Estimated damage to the vehicle was between $1,000 and $2,500.

ASSAULT CHARGE

A Celina man was charged with assault last week after a physical confrontation with one of the officials at a girls basketball game at Fort Recovery High School.

Randall Canary, 47, allegedly punched referee Jonathan Paul Armstrong, 41, Union City, after the Fort Recovery-Celina game Tuesday night.

Canary was released on $200 bond.

WINDOWS DAMAGED

A Portland couple reported that two windows in their South Wayne Street home were damaged on Saturday morning.

Altar Alper, 515 S. Wayne St., reported the damage to Portland police at 2:30 a.m. Saturday. Alper told police that he heard yelling outside his home early Saturday morning then heard glass breaking on the south side of his home.

Amy Alper was asleep in the home at the time of the incident and was struck by the glass from the window. She was not injured.

SIGNS VANDALIZED

A Noble Township resident reported damage to stop signs in the area of his home on Saturday.

Troy Roberts, 2469 South 500 East, told Jay County police that stop signs at the intersection of county roads 200 South and 500 East, 200 South and 600 East and 200 South and 700 East were recently shot.

FILE BANKRUPTCY

James C. and Laura K. Priest Bicknell, Dunkirk, recently filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in U.S. District Court, Indianapolis, listing debts of $63,917 and assets of $50,340.

AREA COURTS

Christopher S. Lahey, 28, Ridgeville, was fined $25 in Winchester City Court last week for a seat belt violation.[[In-content Ad]]
