Marjorie Merchant
Aug. 30, 1926-Feb. 18, 2011
A celebration of life service for Marjorie V. Merchant, 84, Bryant, will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Walker and Glancy Funeral Home in Montpelier with the Rev. Wilbur Taylor officiating. She died Friday at her son’s home in Montpelier.
Born in Blackford County to Pearl William and Elsie Myrtle (Norton) Fields, she was a 1944 graduate of Montpelier High School.
She was preceded in death on Feb. 1, 1995, by her husband Lewis E. Merchant, whom she married on Jan. 10, 1946, in Hartford City.
She worked on the family farm in Penn Township in Jay County and attended Union Chapel Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include five sons, John Merchant (wife: Sharon), Avon, Ed Merchant (wife: Lois) and Tom Merchant (wife: Janet), both of Hartford City, Lewis Merchant (wife: Faith Ann), Montpelier, and Kenny Merchant, Bryant; a daughter, Vivian Manning, Pennville; a brother, David Fields (wife: Toya), Hartford City; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation is today from 2 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory, Muncie.

Samuel Wickey

Services were held Saturday for Samuel “Sam” M. Wickey, 73, Berne. A relative of area residents, he died Wednesday at his home.
Born in Adams County to Dan S. and Mary C. (Schwartz) Wickey, he is survived by his wife Amanda.
Other survivors are four sons; six daughters, including Amanda Bailey (husband: Stuart), Geneva; four sisters, including Leah Schwartz (husband: Dan H.), Bryant; 26 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home in Berne was in charge of the arrangements.

Sept. 3, 1942-Feb. 17, 2011
Services were held today for Sharon Brimhall, 68, Old Hickory, Tenn. A Portland native, she died Thursday at her home following a lengthy illness.
Born in Portland to Cecil and Iris (Labig) Bye, she graduated from Governor I.P. Gray High School in Jay County.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Jerry Brimhall.
She had worked at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville, Tenn., KC Egg House and Pizza King in Gaston and Gommel’s Meats in Muncie.
Surviving besides her husband are three daughters, Rita Wall (husband: Tim) Burns, Tenn., Lisa Barnett (husband: Blake), White Bluff, Tenn., and Jeri Bowers (husband: Mark), Nashville, Tenn.; a brother, Merritt Bye; three sisters, Sue Cummings, Lois June Woodard and Judy Smitley; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
