Albert Alwine, 87, Dunkirk, died Saturday at Albany Healthcare. Arrangements are pending at Keplinger Funeral Home in Hartford City.
Clay Ball
Jan. 14, 1912-June 4, 2011
Graveside services for Clay Stein Ball, 99, Muncie, were held today at Gardens of Memory, Muncie. He died June 4 at Westminster Village in Muncie.
Born in Redkey, he graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1932.
He was preceded in death in 2010 by his wife Mary C. (Standish) Ball.
He had worked at Camp Crosley for many years and at Chevrolet in Muncie for 38 years.
Memberships include Muncie Elks Lodge and past member of Moose Lodge No. 33 and Eagles Lodge No. 231.
Survivors include two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a nephew and a niece.

Services for Rita E. Meinerding, 88, St. Marys, Ohio, were held Thursday in St. Marys. She died June 5 at her home.
Born in Fort Recovery to Henry and Veronica (Muhlenkamp) Sudhoff, she was preceded in death on Jan. 22, 1986, by her husband Wescensalus Meinerding whom she married on Nov. 24, 1945.
Surviving are two sons, Allen Meinerding (wife: Janet) and David Meinerding (wife: Jane), both of St. Marys; four daughters, Elaine Yancey (husband: Sam), JoAnn Meckstroth (husband: Richard), Mary Jane Mackenbach (husband: Steven) and Doris Meinerding, all of St. Marys; four brothers, Alfred Sudhoff (wife: Cleo), Herman Sudhoff (wife: Dorothy), Alvin Sudhoff (wife: Judy) and Raymond Sudhoff (wife: Margie), all of Fort Recovery, and Paul Sudhoff (wife: Mary), Madison; three sisters, Irene Link, Fort Recovery, and Merilda Fleck, Celind, Ohio, and Mary Agnes Knapke, Coldwater, Ohio; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

J. Thomas Paxson, 69, Fort Myers, Fla., died Saturday at his home in Fremont.
Born in Portland to John C. and Mary Margaret (Gray) Paxson, he is survived by his wife Linda (Fremonte) Paxson whom he married on Jan. 1, 1997.
He worked as a banker with Union State Bank in Carmel and Community National Bank in La Belle, Fla.
Memberships include Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Rotary Club and Faith Assembly Of God Church in Fort Myers.
Surviving besides his wife are two sons, James Thomas Paxson, Fort Myers, and John Timothy Paxson, Fishers; two daughters, Stacy Weaver, St. Marys, Ohio, and Lori Furgason, Noblesville; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services are Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Baird-Freeman Funeral Home in Portland with Pastor Bruce Phillips officiating.
Visitation is two hours prior to services on Wednesday at the funeral home, with Masonic services at noon by Jay Lodge No. 87 F & A.M.

Melvin Rupe
Melvin Walter Rupe, 89, rural Portland, died Sunday at his home.
Born in Jay County to Russell and Inez (Walter) Rupe, he attended Gov. I.P. Gray High School.
He was preceded in death on Aug. 28, 2000, by his wife Margaret (White) Rupe, whom she married on Dec. 5, 1954.
A veteran of World War II, he worked at Sheller Globe and was a full-time farmer in Wayne Township.
Memberships include American Legion Post No. 211, where he was past commander, 8 and 40, Moose Lodge of Portland, Eagles Lodge of Portland, DAV of Portland and VFW of Salamonia.
Survivors include a son, Jay Rupe, Bryant; two daughters, Betty Mann (husband: Terry), Berne, and Jacqueline Kowal (husband: Ron), Castle Rock, Colo.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services are Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Portland Chapel of Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home with Pastor Herb Hummel officiating. Burial will be in Center Cemetery, west of Portland, with military rites conducted by American Legion Post No. 211.
Visitation is Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
