Irene Bailey
E. Irene Bailey, 83, 819 W. North Street in Portland, died Sunday in the Bluffton Regional Medical Center.
Born in Jay County on April 27, 1922, to Walter and Lelia (Gibson) Loy, she married Paul B. Bailey on Jan. 14, 1939. He died on Sept. 21, 1997.
She was a homemaker and a member of Westchester United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Les (Pat) Eads, Portland, and two grandchildren.
Services are Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Domingo officiating. Burial is in Gravel Hill Cemetery, west of Bryant.
Visitation is Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be sent to Westchester United Methodist Church.
Paul Myers
Paul Eldon Myers, 69, Carmel, died Thursday in Sarasota, Fla.
Born in Portland on May 26, 1936, to Paul and Juanita (Hodges) Myers, he was married to June Arbaugh. She died in 1992.
He retired from sales and management at Pensky Honda in Carmel in 2004, after more than 20 years and was an IHSAA official.
Attending Hazel Dell Christian Church, memberships include Carmel Dad’s Club and the Masons.
Survivors include a son, Bevin Myers, Bradenton, Fla.; a daughter, Laura Berry Berman, Carmel; two sisters, Betty Stultz and Mildred Armstrong; and five grandchildren.
Services are Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Life Story Funeral Home, Smith Carmel Chapel.
Visitation is Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Graveside services are also Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the Green Park Cemetery in Portland with visitation from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Green Park Cemetery Chapel.
Baird-Freeman Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Ernest Hemmelgarn, 77, St. Henry, Ohio, father of Fort Recovery residents, died Tuesday at his home.
Born on Nov. 22, 1927, in Wendelin, to Henry and Amelia (Stammen) Hemmelgarn, he married Mary Ann Thieman. She survives.
He retired from Avco New Idea in Coldwater, Ohio, after 42 years, was a farmer and member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church.
Other survivors include four sons; three daughters, including Mrs. Joseph (Marie) Pottkotter, and Mrs. Les (Marilyn) Pottkotter, both of Fort Recovery; two brothers; three sisters; 26 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral mass was held Friday at the church.
