Felony court news

Bonds reduced
Jay Superior Court granted bond reductions to two Redkey women.
Angela Vore, 45, had her bond reduced to $5,000 from $10,000 on March 5. She is facing charges of maintaining a common nuisance, a Class D felony, and possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor.
In another case, the court reduced bond for Vore to $10,000 from $20,000.
She is facing a probation violation stemming from a Aug. 9 conviction for possession of a controlled substance.
Also in that court, Heather R. Louck, 30, had her bond reduced to $5,000 from $10,000 on March 5. Louck is facing charges of neglect of a dependent, a Class D felony, possession of a synthetic cannibanoid and possession of paraphernalia, both Class A misdemeanors, and disorderly conduct, a Class B misdemeanor.

DUI sentence
A Union City woman was sentenced in Jay Superior Court Feb. 29 for driving while intoxicated.
 Lisa G. Hatton, 53, was sentenced for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, endangering a person, a Class D felony.
She was sentenced Feb. 29 to 18 months in the Jay County Jail with all but 180 day suspended.
Those 180 days may be served on electronically monitored home detention.
She was fined $100 plus court costs of $165.50, was ordered to pay a drug abuse prosecution, interdiction and correction fee of $200, was ordered to pay a Jay Superior Court Substance Abuse Program fee of $400 and was placed on probation for 18 months.
As part of a plea agreement, charges of operating a vehicle or motorized bicycle in violation of condition of restricted license and operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent of .15 percent or more were dismissed.
Hatton was intoxicated with a child in the car during a traffic stop at Meridian and 7th streets in Portland.

Stolen property
An Albany man was given prison time for receiving stolen property.
Roy V. Wells, 64, was sentenced by Jay Superior Court Feb. 28 for receiving stolen property, a Class D felony.
He was sentenced to one year in the Indiana Department of Correction to be served concurrently with any other sentences handed down by other courts, with credit for four days already served.
He was assessed court costs of $165.
Wells was in possession of a jar of change that was reported stolen.
Meth plea
A Bryant man pleaded guilty to a meth charge in Jay Circuit Court.
Jamie Noles, 37, pleaded March 5 to dealing in methamphetamine, a Class B felony. Sentencing was set for April 3.
Noles was operating a meth lab in his rural Bryant home in August.

Credit denied
A Portland man serving a prison term was denied additional credit against his sentence.
Michael Whitacre, 40, Portland, had his motion for additional earned credit for completion of 40 Days of Purpose Program was denied by Jay Circuit Court on Feb. 29.
Whitacre is serving 10 years for a conviction of dealing a schedule II controlled substance.

Counterfeiting
A Portland woman was sentenced for counterfeiting.
Brittany N. Newsome, 26, was sentenced on Feb. 27 in Jay Circuit Court for counterfeiting, a Class D felony.
She was sentenced to two years in the Jay County Jail with all but 90 days suspended and credit of 20 days for time served. She was also assessed court costs of $165.
Newsome tried to obtain medication using a fraudulent prescription.[[In-content Ad]]
