Ohio Environmental Protection Agency officials say toxic algae levels at Grand Lake in Mercer County are more than 20 times higher than they were this time last year.
The Celina Daily Standard reported that samples show the levels for a liver toxin called microcystin were 46.4 parts per billion on April 12 and 45.2 ppb on April 18. In the same weeks last year, the toxin measured 2.3 ppb and 0.4 ppb. The warm weather is March is being blamed for the early algae bloom.[[In-content Ad]]
