Felony arrests
Accused of possession
A rural Portland man was arrested Saturday after the vehicle he riding in was pulled over by police.
Stephen M. Guntle, 31, 1231 West 150 South, was arrested by Jay County police for possession of methamphetamine, a class D felony.
The vehicle Guntle was riding in was pulled over by police at Union and Lagro streets in Pennville Friday night for allegedly failing to stop at a stop sign.
Jay County’s K9 indicated that there were narcotics in the vehicle, and police found methamphetamine near where Guntle had been riding, police said.
He was released from the Jay County Jail Saturday on a $3,000 bond.
Arrested for possession
A Dunkirk man was arrested Sunday night after he was stopped by Jay County police.
Zachary T. Bennett, 18, 201 S. Meridian St., was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony, and possession of marijuana, a class A misdemeanor.
A Jay County officer saw Bennett walking in Dunkirk and acting suspiciously.
Police said Bennett possessed prescription medication not prescribed to him, along with marijuana.
Bennett was being held in the Jay County Jail this morning on a $6,000 bond.[[In-content Ad]]
