"Money Smart Week" set at JCPL

Jay County Public Library will have “Money Smart Week” April 23 through 28. The American Library Association and the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago have teamed up to promote financial literacy in libraries across the country.
Monday, April 23 — Retirement/Social Security at 10 a.m. with Doug Loy from Main Source Bank. Credit Reports at 6 p.m. with Brenda Hennigan from Crossroads Credit Union.
Tuesday, April 24 — Making “Cents” of Investments at 10 a.m. with Scott Benter from Edward Jones. Teen Finance at 6 p.m. with Jeanna Ford from Crossroads Credit Union.
Wednesday, April 25 — Medicare and Medicaid at 10 a.m. with Lana Remaly from Life Stream. Cool Couponing at 6 p.m.

The Jackson Champs 4-H Club recently elected the following officers: president-Tyler Osborne; vice president-Jade Hollopeter; secretary-Kylie Osborne; treasurer-Brent Englehardt; project leader-Gabi Paxson; news reporters-Faith Parr, Austin Clark, Charlie Brunswick; recreation leaders-Brock Bayless and Mitchel Brunswick.
On exhibit
“Children of Burma” will be on exhibit through June 1 at Arts Place in Portland. The exhibit is a collection of photojournalist Steve Linsenmayer’s 2006 journey to Burma and Thailand and portray the perspective of life for an average child living under one of the world’s most repressive military regimes.
Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m.
Plant swap
A plant swap will be held Saturday, May 5, at 2 p.m. at the Town Park, 4th St. and Portland St. in Ridgeville.
Bring plants, seeds, trees, bulbs, cuttings or garden items to swap. Label plants with the name, color and whether to plant in sun or shade. Please arrive at least 15 early. For more information, call (317) 370-1410.
Spring concert
Students from Arts Place MusicWorks program will have their annual spring ensemble concert on Friday, May 11, at 7:30 p.m.
Individual recitals will be held on Saturday, May 12. String and guitar students will perform at 10 a.m.; voice and piano students will perform at 12:30 p.m. and woodwind, brass and percussion students will perform at 3 p.m.
Dean’s lists
Kevin Dirksen, Bryant, was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2011 semester at the University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne. He is majoring in nursing.
Derek Wendel, Fort Recovery, was named to the dean’s list for the February session at the University of Northwestern Ohio, Lima.
Haley Wilson, Fort Recovery, was named to the dean’s list for the winter quarter at Ohio State Lima. She is a junior majoring in business management.
Jennifer Hiser, Melissa Tobe and Jessica Link, all of Fort Recovery, have been named to the dean’s list for the winter quarter at Rhodes State College, Lima, Ohio.
