DUNKIRK - The Eagles won three of the four field events. But, they couldn't manage victories anywhere else.
Three members of the West Jay Middle School boys track team each contributed one win in a 59-41 loss Monday to visiting Montpelier.
Tyler Back and Taylor Hatzell combined to sweep the throwing events, taking the shot put and discus respectively. Raistlin Rice earned the only other Eagle victory in the high jump.
Back was the runner-up in the 100- and 200-meter dash, and Dalton Eyanson took second in the 110 hurdles, 400 dash and long jump. Shelby Wendel was second to Rice in the high jump.
IHSAA makes change
INDIANAPOLISā- A change to the boys and girls basketball sectional tournament format was approved by the IHSAA Executive Committee at it's meeting Monday.
Starting in the 2008-09 season, teams that draw a bye in a six-team bracket will each play a winning team from the opening round.
Previously, the bye teams were pitted against each other in the semifinal round.[[In-content Ad]]
