More spelling winners named
Taking Note
The eighth grade spelling bee winner at West Jay Middle School is Damon Lawhorn, son of Ramona Miller and Brian Franklin.
Runner-up was Paige Beaty, daughter of John and Candy Beaty.
The spelling bee winners at East Elementary in Portland were Jesse Ashley, a fifth grade student and the son of Beth Guggenheim.
The runner-up was Scott Schwieterman. A fourth grader, he is the son of Dennis and Karen Schwieterman.
The spelling bee winners at Bloomfield Elementary School were Shawn Homan, a fifth grader and the son of Ron and Anita Homan, Bryant.
The runner-up was Brady Yoder.
He is also a fifth grade student and the son of Tim and Gretchen Yoder, Bryant, and Angie and Doug Muntz, Bad Axe, Mich.
SENATE MEMBER
Andrew Wells was elected vice-president of the Student Senate at Wabash College.
He is a junior and the son of J.C. and Nancy Wells, 264 West 200 South, Portland.
TEEN MEETING
TAB (Teen Advisory Board) for the Jay County Public Library will meet at the library on Tuesday, Feb. 22. TAB is for teens in grades sixth through 12 who meet monthly to discuss upcoming library events.
A craft will also be made. Please bring SRP with you.
