Muhlenkamp part of JCPenney ad competition

A student from Portland recently competed in the American Advertising Federation’s National Student Advertising Competition in Southfield, Mich.
Cynthia Muhlenkamp was one of five students from Marian University in Indianapolis to take the challenge to develop a $100 million proposal for a national, fully integrated marketing campaign for JC Penney.
Muhlenkamp was also inducted into Alpha Delta Sigma, a national honor society sponsored by the American Advertising Federation which recognized and encourages scholastic achievement in advertising studies.
Selected to NSHSS
Michelle E. Bruggeman, a Jay County High School student, was selected for membership into the National Society of High School Scholars. The NSHSS recognizes top scholars and invites only those students who have achieved academic excellence.
To speak
Guest speaker Fritz Zimmerman will speak Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Jay County Historical Museum, 903 E. Main St. in Portland.
Zimmerman is an independent researcher, author and antiquities preservationist from the Fort Wayne area.
He will discuss his book “The Nephilim Chronicles” about his 13 years of research that culminated in the discovery of an ancient civilization in the Ohio Valley.
Choir to perform
The Patriot Edition show choir from Jay County High School will perform on Saturday, April 30, at the Twenty First Annual Cavalcade of Harmony at the James F. Dicke Auditorium in New Bremen, Ohio.
The choir will follow a performance from the Grand Lake Sound Waves Barbershop Chorus with the theme “The Old Songs.” The barbershop quartet “Over Easy” will also perform.

South Adams High School senior Bobby Switzer was awarded the 2011 Adams County Community Foundation Lilly Endowment Scholarship.
Switzer plans to attend Goshen College and major in pre-biology/pre-med. He is the son of Brian and Julie Switzer.
