Murrell wins all-around title (03/17/2009)

INDIANAPOLIS - Alexis Murrell won the all-around competition as members of Flip 360 Gymnastics in Portland competed March 7 and 8 at the Last Chance Meet.
Murrell finished first in three events in the Prep Optional Division to post an all-around total of 35.35. She had top scores of 9.0 on the balance beam, 8.95 on the floor exercise and 8.75 on the uneven bars.
Courtney Miles placed second on the Level 6 Floor with a 9.1, and Lizzy Schoenlein was third on the Level 7 floor at 9.075. Other top scores all came on the vault in Level 4 as Korinna Schindler posted a 9.1, Riley Leavell had a 9.025 and Halle Hill scored 8.8.
Miles, Schoenlein, Schindler, Leavell and Hill have all qualified for the state finals.
Jay 4th wins invite
Two Jay County teams made the championship games this weekend as Jay Community Center hosted the Boomer Town Invitational.
Jay County's fourth grade AAU boys basketball team played first in the tournament, which included a total of 30 teams in grades four through seven. Team members are Zach Chaney, Monte Crosbie, Justin Crouch, Dakota Grove, Jay Houck, Kyler Hudson, Allen Huey, Brandy Pearson, Ian Reynolds, Jason Schlosser and Bryan Stancliffe.
In the fifth grade division Jay County reached the championship, but finished as the runner-up to Bellmont.[[In-content Ad]]
