Museum chosen for CAP (07/01/08)
Taking Note
Jay County Historical Museum, 903 E. Main St. in Portland, has been chosen to participate in Heritage Preservation's 2008 Conservation Assessment Program (CAP).
CAP assists museums by providing funds for professional conservation and preservation specialists to identify the conservation needs of their collections and buildings and recommend ways to correctly improve them.
Professional conservators will spend two days surveying the site and three days writing comprehensive reports that will identify conservation priorities. The consultation will enable Jay County Historical Society members to evaluate its current collections care policies, procedures and environmental conditions and help make appropriate improvements of its collections and structures.
