Museum open house set
Taking Note
The Jay County Historical Museum, 903 East Main St., Portland, will hold an open house on Sunday, April 25, from 1 to 4 p.m.
The event will feature a display of Japanese swords by Historical Society board member, John Lingo. Admission is free, but donations are welcome.
THE NEW U
Experience the New “U” will be held Thursday, April 29, at the Jay County 4H Building from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The event will present tips on cooking, exercise, beauty, safety and identity theft.
There will be demonstrations by Ja-Mar, Tyson, the Jay County Health Department, Red Gold, Pampered Chef, Reflections and Indiana State Police.
Admission is two canned food items, paper product, or a $1 donation to the Food Pantry.
CRAFT SHOW SET
A Spring Arts and Crafts Show will be held at the Muncie Mall on Saturday, April 24, and Sunday, April 25.
Crafts will include wreaths, birdhouses, soy candles, concrete yard ornaments, home decor, handpainted wood items, fresh flowers, silk flowers, wickless candles, topiaries, dolls, ceramics, hand-blown and spun glass items and more. The show is free and open during mall hours.
DEAN’S LIST
Audrey M. Muhlenkamp, a fourth-year student at Purdue University, made the Dean’s list and earned semester honors for the 2003 fall semester. She is the daughter of Bonnie and Richard Muhlenkamp, Bryant, and a 2000 graduate of Jay County High School.
IN CONCERT
Julie Pickett, a senior at Earlham College, Richmond, performed in Earlham’s Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble Concert in Goddard Auditorium on March 27. Selections included Franz Schubert’s Symphony No. 9 and Gustav Holst’s The Planets.
