Museum open special hours (12/2/04)
Taking Note
The Jay County Historical Museum, 903 E. Main St., Portland, is decorated for Christmas and will observe special hours during December. It will have open houses on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 4 and 5, and again on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 11 and 12 from 1 to 4 p.m.
Bring the family to enjoy old fashioned decorations and see Christmases of the past through the eyes of Frank Kenyon’s camera.
The museum will also be open for tours Monday, Dec. 27 through Thursday, Dec. 30 from 1 to 4 p.m.
Admission to the museum is free, but donations are welcome.
STUDENTS INVITED
State Senator Allen Paul invites local students to take part in the legistative process by serving as a page for a day. Pages will spend a day in the Senate assisting their local legislator. Responsibilities will include responding to senators’ requests, delivering messages and running errands. The day also includes a tour of the Statehouse and observation of a session.
Any student in grades six through 12 may sign up to be a page. The page office will try to accomodate requests for specific dates. Students will be excused from school for the day and must arrive at the Statehouse by 8:30 a.m.
