Museum to hold meeting
The Museum of the Soldier will host its annual meeting at Bearcreek Farms Saturday and will feature retired U.S. Air Force Captain Guy Gruters.
He served for six years in Vietnam and flew more 400 combat missions.
He was shot down twice during missions and was captured on Dec. 20, 1967 and spent five years and four months in North Vietnamese POW camps, including the infamous Hanoi Hilton.
The banquet will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Bearcreek Farms. Cost is $15 for museum members and $20 for non-members. Deadline to register is Tuesday and reservations can be made at (260) 729-7017, or by mail to Museum of the Soldier, Box 518, Portland.
