New Bremen ahead for Indians in sectional play (02/23/05)

Fort Recovery will face New Bremen Friday in the second bracket championship of the Division IV sectional boys basketball tournament at Coldwater.
Powered by a dominating second quarter, the Cardinals scooted past Marion Local to win 56-53 Tuesday night.
Now 14-7 for the season, New Bremen will take on the 11-6 Indians.
The second bracket game is scheduled to start about 30 minutes after the first game of the night, which pits 13-3 Minster against 10-11 New Knoxville.
New Knoxville pulled out a squeaker Tuesday 49-48 over Waynesfield.
The New Knoxville-Minster game is set for 6:15 p.m.
Friday’s winners will advance to the Wapakoneta District tournament.
New Bremen trailed Tuesday 10-6 at the end of the first quarter but got fired up in the second, outscoring Marion Local 22-13.
It stayed dominant in the third period with a 10-6 performance. Despite a late surge, the lead was enough to guarantee a victory.
Sectional tickets
Tickets for the boys basketball sectional at Blackford High School will be on sale in the Jay County High School athletic office Friday, Feb. 25, and Monday, Feb. 28, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Season tickets are $9 each, and single session tickets will be available at the door for $5 each.
Judo placers
Several members of Judan Judo Club placed over the weekend in a points tournament in Noblesville.
Casey Kenney, Aaron Brenner, and Darren Parks placed first. Lindsey Wall, Bowen Runyon, Preston Overholser, Chris LeMaster, Whitney Runyon, Mackenzie Overholser, and Hunter Prescott placed second.
