New director named for State of Heart

Greenville, Ohio based State of the Heart Home Health and Hospice has hired a new executive director.

Tammy Fox, 39, Greenville, Ohio, was named to the position recently.

Fox began as a part-time nurse for the agency five years ago. She then became a full-time nurse, an education coordinator and most recently the quality compliance coordinator.

She has a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Wright State University and is currently working on a master’s degree in nursing and health care administration.

Also, State of the Heart will offer two outreach programs this month.

The first class is designed to help a homeowner get the house ready for winter. The second program will provide information on getting a car ready for the cold winter months.

A trained professional will lead both classes.

The house preparation program, which will meet for three weeks, will begin Friday, Oct. 8 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Ace Hardware, 1241 East Russ Road in Greenville.

The car preparation program, which will meet for five weeks, will begin on Thursday, Oct. 14 at 5:30 p.m. at Western Ohio Hardware, 702 N. Eastern Ave. in St. Henry, Ohio.

State of the Heart is also offering cooking classes for men.

Brunch with Bob will help teach men to cook for one.

The class will begin Monday, Oct. 11 at 3 p.m. at the Mercer County Council on Aging, 217 Riley Street in Celina, Ohio.

Bob Marchal will be teaching the one-hour class for a six-week session.

There is no cost for the cooking class.

MINNETRISTA EVENTS

In celebration of its 25th anniversary, the Muncie Quilters Guild is hosting a quilt exhibit through Oct. 24.

The show features traditional and art quilts, along with clothing and other quilted textiles made by guild members.

The display will be open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Cost is $4 for children/students, $6 for seniors and $7 for adults.

Also, the Humpback Barn Festival of Poetry and Art will be held Saturday, Oct. 9, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 10, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Oakhurst Gardens at Minnetrista.

The festival features works of art created in response to poetry.

It is an annual celebration of World Poetry Day and was founded by the 401 Poetry Group, which meets each Saturday at the Muncie Center for the Arts.
