Leadership positions remain the same

FORT RECOVERY — There were new faces on the Fort Recovery School Board during its meeting Tuesday night, but the leadership is going to remain the same.

After swearing in its two newest members, the board re-elected president Dan Kahlig and vice-president Steven Wendel during an organizational meeting. Wendel and new board members Kim Day and Susan Homan took the oath of office prior to the meeting.

It was also the first board meeting for new Fort Recovery Supt. David Riel, who replaced Patrick Niekamp at the beginning of this month.

Board member Dan Jutte was on vacation and did not attend the meeting.

The first order of business in the organizational meeting was to elect the leadership, and Kahlig told the board prior to the vote that he would be delighted to remain president, but that sometimes “fresh blood was a good thing.”

Both Kahlig and Wendel were elected by a unanimous vote.

In other news Tuesday, the board:

•Requested an advanced draw on 2004 tax collections for the general fund, bond retirement, permanent improvement fund and the classroom facilities maintenance fund.

•Set the president’s bond in the amount of $50,000 with the Fort Recovery Insurance Company.
