New Haven rallies, ties SA

BERNE — The South Adams High School boys soccer team jumped out to a 3-1 lead, but New Haven’s T.J. Moeller scored two second-half goals to complete his hat trick as the two teams tied 3-3 Saturday.
After his team fell behind 3-1 at the 29-minute mark of the second half, Moeller scored two goals in the final 23 minutes. One of them came on a penalty kick after a handball inside the penalty box.
J.D. Groh scored the lone first-half goal for the Starfires (2-3-1) from just outside 18-yard box on a pass from Dustin Dellinger, but Moeller tied the game in the final minute of the first half.
John O’Donnell and Marco Vasquez scored goals for South Adams in the second half before Moeller brought the Bulldogs back to salvage the tie.
The Starfires return to the pitch at noon Saturday on the road against Jay County.

FR eighth graders win
The Fort Recovery Middle School eighth grade volleyball team improved to 3-1 Saturday, defeating the Ansonia Tigers 25-5, 25-18.
Alyssa Post led the Tribe’s offensive attack with five kills, and Carly Stone, Kiah Wendel and Grace Thien each added four kills.
Kelsey Jutte tallied five aces from the service line and added nine assists and two kills.
Thien also tallied four aces, while Madison Grover added five assists.

The Fort Recovery seventh grade volleyball team evened its season record Saturday, defeating the Ansonia Tigers 25-10, 19-25, 24-10.
Hannah Knapke recorded a team-high six kills, while Madison Rammel and Cassidy Martin had five and four kills respectively.
Rammel led the Indians (2-2) at the service line, tallying eight aces, while Knapke (five), Brooke Gaerke (four) and Faith Kahlig (three) all recorded aces.
