Rachelle N. Haughn, Portland, has joined The Commercial Review staff as the police/city beat reporter.

Haughn is a 2001 Ball State University graduate, with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. She is from the Muncie area and graduated from Wes-Del High School in 1997.

She and her husband, Sean, are members of Grace Baptist Church, Muncie.

Jennifer Wilmes, the current police/city beat reporter for The CR, will cover education and other general reporting assignments.

FNB MEETING

First Merchants Corporation will host its annual shareholders' meeting Thursday, April 22 at 3:30 p.m. at the Horizon Convention Center, 401 South High St., Muncie.

Speakers will include Chairman Stefan S. Anderson, Chief Executive Officer Michael L. Cox, and Chief Operating Officer Roger M. Arwood.

ECIHRA AWARD

The East Central Indiana Human Resource Association (ECIHRA) recently announced that it has again obtained the designation of Superior Merit Award from the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM).

The SHRM Chapter Merit Award Program recognizes those local chapters that have achieved excellence in operations and service to its members.

OI CONFERENCE SET

Indiana Gov. Joe Kernan and Lt. Gov. Kathy Davis will host the inaugural Opportunity Indiana Conference Monday, May 10 in Indianpolis.

The conference will highlight projects the state will undertake over the next two years under the Opportunity Indiana Initiative created by the pair in November.

The conference will be held at Indiana Government Center South, 10 N. Senate Ave., from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Registration begins at 8 a.m.

INNOVATION WORKSHOP

The Northeast Indiana Innovation Center will host a workshop on business innovation — SpeedInnovating — on Tuesday, May 4 at IPFW in Fort Wayne.

Teaching the workshop, and also serving as keynote speaker at that evening’s annual Northeast Indiana Innovation Center Dinner, will be author/lecturer Stephen Shapiro.

There is a $99 fee for the workshop, which covers the cost of lunch, materials, and a copy of Shapiro’s book “24/7 Innovation: A Blueprint for Surviving and Thinking in an Age of Change.”

There is no charge to attend the NIIC annual meeting, but reservations are required.
