New trial sought
WINCHESTER, Ind. - One of two convicted killers of a Parker City woman and her unborn daughter in 1994 is each seeking a new trial.
David Shane, who believes he received ineffective counsel at his 1997 trial, is set to appear in Randolph Circuit Court on Monday to request a new trial.
Shane and Robert Hicks, now both 42, were convicted in separate trials of murder and feticide in the July 1994 slaying of Nicole Lynn Koontz, 23. She was seven months pregnant with Hicks' child, authorities said. The two men, who blamed each another for the crime, each received 60-year sentences.[[In-content Ad]]
