NHS initiates new members (05/09/08)
Taking Note
The National Honor Society at Jay County High School recently held its spring initiation for new members.
Seniors were Kathryn Lynn Albers, Jonathan Dustin Fennig, Thomas Patrick McCord and Jacob Wesley Schmidt.
Juniors were Paige Danielle Beaty, Jennifer Rae Buckland, Ashley Dawn Cosner, Chelsea Monique Elzey, Madaline Elizabeth Fennig, Emily Jo Franks, Sarah Elizabeth Garringer, Chelsea Marie Grady, Robert Lance Louth, Mallory Nicole Myers, Phillip Justin Powell, Cameron Elizabeth Solether and Joshua David Yoder.

Kristi Henry, Purdue food and nutrition educator, will present the program "Diet, Cancer and other Health Issues - Is There Concern?" on Tuesday, May 20, at 1 p.m. at Jay County Public Library.

Nominations wanted
LifeStream is in search of nominations for an Awards of Excellence Celebration to be held June 18.
Awards will be given in the following categories:
Chairman's Award: to honor an individual of any age, organization, association or government leader who has done the most to positively impact the lives of seniors or people with disabilities who want to remain independent.
Champion Award: an individual of any age who has successfully advocated on behalf of seniors or people with disabilities.
Focus Award: For an organization, individual of any age or team who has put the spotlight on issues affecting seniors or people with disabilities, either through media attention or other means.
Hoosier Lifetime Achievement Award: To and individual age 60 or older in Grant, Jay, Blackford, Randolph, Henry, Delaware or Madison counties who has given a lifetime of service and improved the quality of life in his or her community.
Letters of nomination should include the full name, address and phone number of the nominee and the nominator and a statement of 500 words or less why the individual, organization or agency should be honored.
