No. 9 Parkway defeats Indians

FORT RECOVERY — The Division III No. 9 Parkway Panthers proved too powerful for Fort Recovery High School Thursday, handing the Indians a 25-15, 25-21, 25-14 defeat.
Shelby Brunswick had 10 assists and five points for the Indians (4-5, 1-2 Midwest Athletic Conference), and Ericka Lennartz finished with eight digs and four points. Holly Brunswick totaled five kills and four blocks, Abby Backs came up with 15 digs and Kylie Kahlig notched seven kills.
In the junior varsity match, the Indians got 11 points and nine kills from Kelsey Fiely in a 17-25, 25-17, 25-21 loss.
Bruins top Jay
HARTFORD CITY — Jay County’s volleyball team won its first game Thursday, but dropped the next three to the host Blackford Bruins in a 20-25, 25-23, 25-15, 25-14 defeat.
Hannah Ainsworth finished with 20 assists and nine points for the Patriots.
They are now 7-10 and have dropped seven matches in a row. Maria Murphy had 13 kills, and Mariah Hornaday added 12.
Shannon Springer scored nine service points, and Alyssa Rigby had eight digs.
JCHS lost 15-17, 15-25, 15-5 in junior varsity action. Katie Aker finished with 10 points, five digs and two kills.


SAHS falls to Heritage
BERNE — South Adams fell just short in the first game Thursday and then struggled the rest of the way in a 28-26, 25-9, 25-17 loss to the visiting Heritage Patriots.
Taylor Farlow totaled 15 digs and four kills in the defeat. Chelsea Bollenbacher added five digs, four kills and two blocks.
The SAHS junior varsity team fell 25-12, 24-25, 15-9, and the freshmen lost 25-19, 25-23.

Chiefs, Indians split
The East Jay and Fort Recovery middle school volleyball teams split matches Thursday with the host Chiefs winning the seventh grade match 25-21, 25-14 while the Indians took the eighth grade battle 25-14, 25-24.
Mallory Marshal led the EJMS victory with 11 points, including six aces. Kylie Osborne and Ava Kunkler each added seven points.
Trisha Thein had four points, one kill and one assist for the Indians (2-4).
Haley Knapke led Fort Recovery’s win with 12 points, six kills and four digs. Tori Lennartz added eight kills and four digs for the Tribe (4-2), and Cassidy Rammel had five assists and four digs.
Breanne McIntire totaled five points, one block and one kill for the Chiefs (3-3).[[In-content Ad]]
