Norwell blasts South Adams

BERNE - Six players scored in double figures for the Norwell Knights Tuesday as they handed the South Adams High School boys basketball team its 13th straight loss, 84-57.
The Starfires (1-14), who are allowing 70.7 points per game this year, trailed by 10 just 3:09 into the game and by 20 less than three minutes into the second quarter. They were down by as many as 33 points in the seocnd half.
Brandon Gerber paced Norwell with 18 points, eight rebounds, three steals and two assists. Kyle Johnloz added 15 points, all on 3-pointers, and Jeff Shatto had 13 points and seven boards.
Jordan Shady scored 12 points, and Kyle Fillman and Klay Fiechter each had 10.
Nick Teeter totaled 29 points and seven rebounds for South Adams. Taylor LeFever scored all of his eight points at the foul line.
The Starfires dropped the junior varsity game 54-37 with Mark Muselman scoring 14 points.
Chiefs place second
The East Jay Middle School wrestling team finished second Saturday as host of the 10-team East Jay Invitational.
Alex Abbott (80), Eric Hemmelgarn (HWT) and Zach Metcalf (145) won titles for the Chiefs, who placed 15 of its 16 wrestlers in the top five. Michael Bruggeman (125), Conner Ray (90) and Hunter Gillette (152) finished second, and Preston Keen (135) and Ryan Claytor-Tinkham (160) took third.[[In-content Ad]]
