OCRA grants extentions
In review
The Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs has granted the City of Portland a six-month extension to repay grant funds the city passed on to Geesaman Industries.
The city applied for the extension of the March 15 deadline while litigation against the company is pending.
The city was granted a default judgment for the $877,500 in a court hearing Monday.
Portland Mayor Randy Geesaman said that OCRA noted the city’s progress in trying to recover the funds and also that he felt six months would be adequate to make the repayment to the state agency.
