Oil painting classes to begin in January (12/22/05)

Arts Place in Portland is now accepting registrations for Oil Painting for Adults with Steve McClung. The six weeks class begins Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2006, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and will be held on Tuesdays through Feb. 14.
Cost for the class is $90. For more information, call Arts Place at (260) 726-4809.
Historical museum
The Jay County Historical Museum will continue its holiday open house Monday, Dec. 26, through Thursday, Dec. 29, from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m.
On display will be sixteen decorated trees, a snow village and vintage toys and decorations. The musuem is located at 903 E. Main St. in Portland. Admission is free.
Ball State scholarships
Two estate gifts totaling $817,000, will create scholarships at Ball State University to assist the visually impaired and students from Randolph County.
The Myra Jean Bush Fund, established through a $500,000 anonymous gift, will help visually impaired students at Ball State.
The Eunice M. Davisson Scholarship, a $317,000 gift from her estate, will provide scholarships for students attending Ball State from Randolph County.
