Open house set at museum (6/9/04)

A special open house is set for Sunday at the Jay County Historical Museum from 1 to 4 p.m.
This month’s featured display spotlights memorabilia from former schools in Jay County. The items are from the collection of Portland history enthusiast Cheryl Myers.
Larry Bubp will also have a display of Indian artifacts on exhibit.
Admission to the museum, which is located at 903 E. Main St., is free.
SUMMER BOOKMOBILE
The Jay County Public Library has scheduled summer bookmobile sites.
On certain Tuesdays — June 8, June 22, July 6, July 20, Aug. 3, and Aug. 17 — the bookmobile will visit the Trinity community, parking at Holy Trinity Catholic Church from 10 to 11 a.m.
On certain Thursdays — June 10, June 24, July 8, July 22, Aug. 5, and Aug. 19 — the bookmobile will visit Redkey, parking at Redkey Elementary School from 10 to 11 a.m.
The bookmobile will feature children’s books but will also have limited adult materials available for check-out. Requests for specific materials may also be made by calling the library prior to the bookmobile’s next visit.
Library patrons who have library cards will need them to check out materials. In order to obtain a card, applicants must have a photo identification with his or her current address or a photo identification and some other proof of address, such as a current utility bill. New cards are free, but replacement cards cost 50 cents. Children who are of kindergarten age or older must have a parent present to be issued a card.
Thanks to Friends of the Library, coupons will be given to patrons each time they make a return trip to the bookmobile. The coupons can be redeemed for a treat valued up to $1.25 at either The Whirl in Redkey or Bearcreek Crossing.

ALTERNATIVE WORKSHOP
LifeStream Services Inc. will be presenting a workshop on alternatives to placement in a nursing home.
Set for June 15, the workshop will be held at the Salvation Army offices, 1616 Meridian St., Anderson. The workshop runs from 2 to 4 p.m.
Information will be provided about in-home care options in east central Indiana. There will also be discussions of assisted living and the nursing home placement experience. Information about local assisted living faclities and other options is available as www.lifestreaminc.org.
