GREENSBURG — Jay County is sending another pair of Special Olympics golfers to the state meet this year.
Chris Garlinger teamed with Mark Knipp to finish in second place at the regional golf tournament at Greensburg Golf Course Saturday.
The effort in the 52-team field earned them a spot in the state tournament, which will be played Saturday, Aug. 20 in Indianapolis.
Chris LeMaster and Darrin Martin also participated in the regional tournament and finished in fifth place.
Hoosier Fox takes first
There was one local winner in the harness racing event held at the Jay County Fair Friday.
Hoosier Fox, driven and owned by Greg Runyon of Portland, rolled to victory in the 10th race. It won the 3-year-old filly race in 2-minutes, five seconds.
Several other locally-owned, driven and trained horses competed Friday, with three finishing in third.
GG’s Joe, also driven and owned by Runyon, was third in the second race. Lotta Laughter, trained by Brian McGalliard of Portland, was third in the eighth, and Heelwin, owned and trained by Charles Lewellen of Portland, was third in the 17th.[[In-content Ad]]
