BERNE — Renee Neuenschwander had another big match, but it was not enough as the South Adams volleyball team dropped a 25-21, 25-14, 25-18 decision to the Eastbrook Panthers.
Neuenschwander, a senior, racked up 15 kills in the three-game match. She also shared the team lead of eight digs with junior Brooke Fox.
Fox also had seven kills, Alyssa Miller notched 22 assists and Andrea Moser totaled four blocks as the Starfires fell to 1-6.
South Adams also dropped the junior varsity match, 25-12, 22-25, 15-5.
Patriot boys to 0-2
NEW CASTLE — Jay County’s boys soccer team knew scoring would be down this season. It is still looking for its first goal.
The Patriots dropped to 0-2 Tuesday with a 5-0 loss to the New Castle Trojans. The team, which lost 40 goals from 2004 with the graduation of Trent Bailey (22) and Chad Keen (18), dropped its season-opener 13-0 to 12th-ranked Noblesville last week.
New Castle grabbed a 2-0 lead at halftime Tuesday, then pulled away after the break. Derek Mills had six saves for Jay County, which managed just one shot on goal in the defeat.
Jets dump Jay
The Adams Central Jets made quick work of Jay County Tuesday night, 25-11, 25-14, 25-15, dropping the Patriot volleyball team to 2-4 on the season.
Shelby Rines posted team highs of two blocks, one ace and two digs in the defeat. She was also second on the team with three kills.
Jessica Muhlenkamp finished with four kills, and Theresa Reinhart and Brittany O’Dell each added three.
Erica Clark put up 11 assists, and Kelly Sautbine had a pair of digs.
Jay County also dropped junior varsity and freshman matches to the Jets by scores of 25-16, 25-9 and 25-8, 25-7 respectively. Shanda Morningstar had three kills in the JV match, and Sharon Dirksen notched three assists.[[In-content Ad]]
