The Jay County Chamber of Commerce is hosting Winterfest activities Nov. 19.
Registration is being held for the Holiday Parade of Lights. Local businesses and groups must register with the chamber by Nov. 16. Contact the chamber at (260) 726-4481 or e-mail [email protected].
The parade is sponsored by Portland Rotary Club.

Food drive
First Bank of Berne will be holding a region-wide food drive starting Nov. 1.
The “Blue Bag” food drive is meant to help local food banks in Berne, Decatur, Bluffton, Portland and Van Wert, Ohio. Those donating non-perishable foods will receive a free First Bank of Berne “Blue Bag” for their contribution.
The drive will run Nov. 1-20. Branch locations will display donations in the lobby for the duration of the event.
Elected
Farm Credit Services of Mid-America recently elected Muncie native Kaye Hurst Whitehead to its board of directors.
Other members elected to the board were Brandon Robbins of Cookeville, Tenn., Dan Flanagan of Campbellsville, Ky., Andrew Wilson of Somerset, Ohio and Kathryn Eschbacher-Timberlake of Mauckport, Ind.
Farm Credit Services is a $17.5 billion financial cooperative serving more than 92,500 rural residents and farmers in Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana and Tennessee.
New physician
Adams Health Network recently hired a new physician.
Dr. Tony Nigliazzo will start in July after completing his residency in general surgery at Michigan State University.
Nigliazzo received a public service award for his actions as a paramedic the day of the bombing of the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City.

Spain presentation
POET vice president of corporate affairs Doug Berven will speak about the company’s future at the F.O. Licht World Ethanol and Biofuels 2011 conference in Barcelona.
The Nov. 8 presentation will include talk about corn ethanol production and cellulosic ethanol.

Saint-Gobain sales
Sales for glass producer Saint-Gobain increased 5.4 percent in the first quarter of 2011 to 31.6 billion Euros.
Third quarter sales increased 1.2 percent to help boost the year-to-date total.
Saint-Gobain’s Verallia packaging division accounted for about 2.7 billion Euros in sales.

ATI earnings
Allegheny Technologies reported a net income of $62.3 million in the third quarter, which includes acquisition expenses for purchase of Ladish.
Sales increased 28 percent from the same quarter in 2010 to $1.35 billion.
Year-to-date, ATI has earned $182.6 million on sales of $3.93 billion.[[In-content Ad]]
