INDIANAPOLIS - Jay County traded Spartans and Cougars for Giants and Marauders.
The face of Class 4A's football sectional 12, which includes Jay County, didn't change much when the re-alignment was announced Friday as six of the eight in the group will remain the same. The big changes came for South Adams, which moves from Class 2A's sectional 28 to Class A's sectional 34.
The only departures from sectional 12 were Connersville and Greenfield-Central. They will be replaced by the Marion Giants, who are dropping down from Class 5A, and Mount Vernon (Fortville) Marauders, who are moving up from Class 3A.
The other teams along with Jay County are Delta, Muncie Central, Muncie Southside, New Castle and Pendleton Heights.
Connersville heads south to join a group including Franklin County, South Dearborn and Shelbyville in sectional 15. Greenfield-Central will go a difficult road as it is in sectional 14 along with perennial powerhouses Cathedral and Roncalli.
The Starfires will have some familiar foes in their new group as they join Allen County Athletic Conference rivals Adams Central and Southern Wells. Others in sectional 34 are Churubusco, Eastside, Fremont, Northfield and Southwood.[[In-content Ad]]
