The Jay County High School girls swim team and the visiting Celina Bulldogs finished in a 93-93 tie Monday. The JCHS boys fell 119-64 to Celina.
Both Patriot squads defeated a small Fort Recovery squad by scores of 153-6 and 130-25 respectively.
Brie McGhee, Eme Miller and Charlotte Becot each finished first in one event and second in another for the JCHS girls, who are now 8-2-1. The team is three wins away from tying the school record with six dual meets left in the regular season.
McGhee’s victory came in the 200-yard individual medley as she won by nearly five seconds in 2 minutes, 26.83 seconds. Miller took the top spot in the 200 freestyle in 2:12.27, and Becot won the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:09.09.
Mary Hudson added a time of 1:13.44 to win the 100 breaststroke, and Megan Taylor placed first in diving with 176.55 points.
Alex Sutton led the Patriot boys (2-6) with a time of 5:58.18 to win the 500 freestyle ahead of teammate Caleb Hummel. Neal Fennig took the 100 freestyle in 51.42.
Marshall Hull led Fort Recovery, which has just five boys and two girls on its squad. He was third in the 100 butterfly and fourth in the 50 freestyle.
Kelly Hull finished seventh in the girls 50 and 100 freestyle.

Tigers top FR
FORT RECOVERY — The visiting Versailles Tigers handed the Fort Recovery freshman basketball teams a couple of losses Monday. The boys fell 38-23, and the girls lost 42-22.
Kent Retz finished with 14 points and five rebounds for the FRHS boys, who fell to 3-3. Josh Pohl added three points.
Jackie Fullenkamp had nine points for the Tribe girls team (2-5), which got outscored 26-9 in the second half. Lexi Schmitz scored seven points.
Also Thursday, the Fort Recovery freshman boys defeated Lehman Catholic 39-33.
Retz totaled 10 points and nine rebounds to lead the victory. Alex Kaiser finished with seven points.

Elmore perfect
Steve Elmore rolled the first perfect game of his bowling career Monday during men’s league action at The Brown Bowl.
Elmore’s 12 consecutive strikes came in his opening game of the evening. He added games of 204 and 209 for a 713 series.[[In-content Ad]]
