Patriot golfers defeat Wes-Del (09/07/05)

EATON — The Jay County girls golf team picked up its second victory of the season Tuesday as it battled the Yorktown Tigers and Wes-Del Warriors.
The Patriots bested Wes-Del 214-241 at Lakeview Country Club in Eaton. Yorktown, which is rated 20th in the state by the Indiana High School Golf Coaches Association, posted the best score of the day with a 189.
Trisha Champ again paced Jay County (2-4), racking up six pars en route to a 41. She played even on the second through sixth holes and the eighth and added a bogey on the par-4 ninth.
Brittany Lewis followed Champ, posting the best score of her career. She had three bogeys in the round for a 54, which is 10 strokes better than her season average.
Ashley Bunch also had three bogeys to finish one stroke behind Lewis with a 55. Alissa McMillan had three bogeys for a 64, and Brittany Schlater finished at 69.[[In-content Ad]]
