Patriot JV drops third straight

MUNCIE — After jumping out to a 5-0 start, the Jay County High School junior varsity football team dropped its third straight game Monday, falling to the Delta Eagles 28-12.
Thomas Noble and Aaron Neal both scored touchdowns for the Patriots.
Jay County completes its season at home Saturday against Huntington North following the freshmen game beginning at 10 a.m.
Chiefs fall to Indians
GAS CITY — The East Jay Middle School volleyball teams dropped two of three matches to the R.J. Baskett Indians on Tuesday.
The eighth grade Chiefs fell 25-22, 25-18 and the East Jay sixth graders lost 25-15, 25-17.
East Jay’s seventh graders picked up the only win, defeating the Indians 25-16, 25-15.
Gwen Omstead led the seventh grade Chiefs with five kills and three aces, and Hanna Dillon tallied five assists, three aces and two kills. Kailee Denney had five assists, three digs and two kills, while Maggie Pryor had six digs.
For the East Jay eight graders, Alayna Aparicio recorded team highs in service points (eight) and aces (four), and Katie Beougher and Kaylee Inman added five and four kills respectively. Lucy Laux had a team-high eleven digs, and Briana Muhlenkamp had 10 assists.
Britney Mullins led the sixth grade Chiefs with 11 points, including one ace, while Sara Hemmelgarn had three and Ella Roessner had two. Adriana Stein and Kassidy Fennig each had one point.


Chiefs top Eagles
The West Jay Eagles seventh grade football team entered Tuesday’s contest with a perfect 6-0 record, and the East Jay Chiefs weren’t going to let them remain unbeaten.
Ryan Schlechty scored the only touchdown in the game, as the Chiefs shut out the Eagles 8-0. Trey Castillo scored on the two-point conversion.
Schlechty led all rushers with 50 yards, Daniel Ostrowski added 40 and Castillo had 20.
Wyatt Geesaman led the Eagles with 21 yards on 11 carries, and Gabe Faulkner had 19 yards on eight carries. Faulkner also completed 1-of-3 passes, connecting with Noah Harris for 50 yards.
Defensively for the Chiefs, Brandon McIntire picked off a Faulkner pass.
Kobe Bennett, Andrew Toney and Geesaman led the Eagles with five tackles each.
The East Jay eighth graders survived a fourth quarter West Jay rally, defeating the Eagles 16-14.
Ethan Myers rushed for one touchdown and threw for another to Noah Hummel for East Jay’s two scores. Jade Smith ran in both two-point conversion attempts.
For the Eagles, Holton Hill was 7-of-11 passing for 130 yards, including scores of 50 yards to Nathan Hamilton and five yards to Max Moser.
Blake Stewart led the Eagles with 10 tackles, and Connor Davis and Devante Crouse had six stops. Davis also added two sacks.[[In-content Ad]]
