Patriot softball earns 14th win (05/16/07)

PARKER CITY - With its win Tuesday, the 2007 version of the Jay County softball team became the best the school has seen this century.
The Patriots earned their 14th win, thanks in part to two Amber Edmundson home runs, 10-6 over the host Monroe Central Golden Bears to surpass last season's win total.
Jay County had not won double-digit games since 2001 before finishing 13-13 a year ago. The Patriots are 14-7 this year with two regular-season games remaining before they start sectional play Monday against the host Tipton Blue Devils.
Edmundson went deep twice - she now has five home runs this season - driving in four runs and scoring twice. Kaelee Keller racked up two hits, three stolen bases and two runs, and Lindsey Wellman had a double and a triple.
Shae Keller also added two hits.
Edmundson earned her fourth win of the year, surrendering six runs - three earned - on eight hits and three walks. She struck out four batters.[[In-content Ad]]
