Patriot tankers defeat Delta

MUNCIE — The Patriots turned in a strong finish to the most hectic part of their schedule.
Jay County High School’s boys swim team, competing for the fifth time in eight days, held off the host Delta Eagles 91-89 Tuesday, and the girls added a 116-69 victory.
The Patriot boys (4-2) led by four heading into the final event and took second and third in the 400-yard freestyle relay to preserve the victory. James Keen, a freshman, led the team with victories in the 200 individual medley in 2 minutes, 13.4 seconds and the 100 backstroke in 1:00.05.
Senior Alex Sutton posted a time of 5:44.57 to win the 500 freestyle.
Julie Valentine led a sweep of the 100 breaststroke for the girls team, which improved to 8-1, winning in 1:22.93 ahead of Taylor Campbell and Rylee Clemmons. Alyson Lucas won the 200 freestyle in 2:20.96 with teammate Laura Bowen in second place.
Mary Hudson and Eme Miller added wins in the 200 individual medley and 50 freestyle respectively.

FR boys split
VAN WERT, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s boys swim team scored a 57-26 victory Tuesday over the Marion Local Flyers, but fell 66-27 to the host Van Wert Cougars in a double dual meet.

The girls team lost 62.5-30 to Marion Local and 79-14 to Van Wert.
Marshall Hull picked up the only victory of the evening for the Indians, winning the boys 100-yard backstroke in 1 minute, 14.75 seconds. He was also the runner-up in the 50 freestyle.
Lane Hull added second-place finishes in both the 100 butterfly and 400 freestyle, and Andy Gray was the runner-up in the 100 breaststroke.
Olivia Acheson was third for the FRHS girls in the 200 freestyle. Elle Sutter added a third-place finish in the 100 freestyle, and Cassie Gray was third in the 100 breaststroke.

Indians win pair
ROCKFORD, Ohio — The Fort Recovery eighth grade girls basketball team earned its first win of the season Tuesday, topping the host Parkway Panthers 41-5. The seventh graders won 20-11.
Morgan Lennartz led the Tribe eighth graders (1-4) to their first victory as she scored 11 points. Caitlyn Huelskamp followed with eight points.
Devin Post, Audra Metzger and Jocie Kaiser each had six points for the seventh graders (2-3).[[In-content Ad]]
