Patriot tankers dominate Adams Central (02/06/07)

Lance VanSkyock's two wins led the Jay County boys swim team as the Patriots crushed the Adams Central Jets 202-72 Monday.
VanSkyock dominated the 200-yard individual medley, winning by more than 15 seconds in 2-minutes, 34.94 seconds. His second victory came in a one-two finish with teammate Shan Willoughby in the 100 breaststroke in 1:15.15.
Six other Patriots earned one victory apiece, including a sweep in the 50 freestyle. Freshman Aaron Hudson finished first in 25.31 with Andres Ayesta second and Chance Milligan third.
Other winners for Jay County were Nathan Cain at 2:19.11 in the 200 freestyle, Scott Walker in 57.92 in the 100 freestyle, Sam Miller at 5:30.47 in the 500 freestyle, Tom McCord in 1:01.13 in the 100 backstroke and Donny McCowan with 160.65 points in diving. The Patriots also took first place in all three relays.
Delta falls to Jay
MUNCIE - Luke Holcomb earned a pair of victories Monday in leading the Jay County Middle School Boys Swim Team to a 100-73 win over the Delta Eagles.
The girls team also topped Delta, 94-90.
Holcomb scored big wins in both of his events, finishing 10 seconds ahead of teammate Eric Beougher for first in the 100-yard freestyle at 1-minute, 8.64 seconds. He took the 100 backstroke by nearly 15 seconds with a time of 1:21.75.
Neal Fennig led a one-two finish with Caleb Hummel in the 50 freestyle with a win in 27.33, and Dillon Jutte took diving with 53.4 points ahead of teammate Trent Whiteneck in second. Wiley Young finished in 2:49.81 to win the 200 individual medley, and Richard Osterholt took the 100 breaststroke at 1:24.87.
Michaela Long finished first in the 100 breaststroke for the girls team in 1:20.46, and Megan Taylor took diving with 97.6 points.
Mark, Bader top in points
ANDERSON - Alex Bader and Ashley Mark topped their divisions as the Jay County Winter Swim Team competed at the Anderson Community Aquatic Club 8-and-younger Meet of Champions.
Bader won all five events in the 7-year-old girls division to earn the high-point trophy. Mark earned victories in 4-out-of-5 events to take top honors in the 8-year-old girls division.
Jay County's Sidney Sprunger took the only 8-year-old girls event not won by Mark, finishing first in the 25 breaststroke.
Sok Vormohr took third in the 8-year-old boys 25 butterfly and 50 freestyle, Sydner Mathias was fourth in the 7-year-old girls 25 backstroke and Eliza Bader placed fifth in the 6-and-younger girls 25 butterfly.[[In-content Ad]]
