HUNTINGTON - The Jay County boys golf team finished its season with an eighth-place finish at Friday's sectional tournament hosted by Huntington North.
The Patriots finished with a score of 364, four strokes behind seventh-place Southern Wells and 18 ahead of ninth-place Blackford.
Marion took the sectional title at 300, while Bellmont (304) and Huntington North also advanced to the regional round. Also moving on were the top three individuals not on advancing teams - Drew Imel (69) of Norwell, Cory Powell (75) of Mississinewa and Kaleb Kern (78) of Eastbrook.
Adam Gray turned in the top score for Jay County with a 7-over-par 72. He had one of just three birdies on the day for the Patriots, playing 1-under on the par-3 14th hole. He also had two pars on the back nine after recording four on the front.
Gray Suman, Justen Moser and Aaron Daniels were each separated by just one stroke for the No. 2, 3 and 4 Patriot scores at 92, 93 and 94 respectively. Suman picked up a birdie on the par-5 12th hole, and Aaron Daniels closed his round with a birdie on the par-4 18th.
