JCHS roundup

MUNCIE - Jay County High School's baseball team scored in every inning except the third Monday, improving to 3-0 with a 9-4 win over the Muncie Central Bearcats.

The Patriots continued their power trend, getting home runs from seniors Michael Jobe and Thomas McCowan. It was the third blast of the season for Jobe and second for McCowan, giving the team eight its first three games.

McCowan was perfect at the plate, going 4-for-4 with two runs, two RBIs and a stolen base. Jobe had two RBIs and two stolen bases, Phil Powell went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs and Josh Ludy scored twice.

Powell picked up the win, giving up two unearned runs in four innings of relief. He gave up three hits and a walk while striking out one.

The victory sets up a showdown Wednesday when the undefeated Patriots will visit Class 2A No. 4 Wapahani.
