Patriots lose 5-0
JCHS girls tennis
Marion swept the host Jay County High School girls tennis team 5-0 Friday.
The Patriot No. 1 doubles pair of Megan Huntsman and Briann Saxman picked up the most games, falling 7-5, 6-2 to Alex Davis and Alex Lester. At No. 2 doubles, Emily Huntsman and Becky Muhlenkamp fell 6-1, 6-4 against Malou Frete and Morgan Schoer.
Kayla Martin had a 4-3 second-set lead against 2008 state qualifier Kristin Futrell at No. 1 singles, but lost 6-0, 6-4. In the No. 2 singles match Hannah McAbee lost 6-1, 6-1 to Tamara Barrett, and at No. 3 singles Mariah Clark fell 6-0, 6-3 against Veronica Sandovall.
Junior varsity
Alyssa Rigby and Jessica Ooten each scored shutout victories to lead Jay County to a 10-5 win. Other winners were Brittany White, Dezi Clay, Megan McGraw, Joni Degler and the teams of Ashley Caupp and Katie Link; Danielle Chenoweth and Lissa Simms; Alicia Degler and Chelsea Kimmel, and Loryn Horn and Katie Michaels.[[In-content Ad]]
