DECATUR - Jay County High School's boys golf team finished in sixth place Saturday at the rain-shortened Bellmont Invitational.
Adam Gray tied for third in what became a nine-hole event at Grey Goose Golf Club as the Patriots scored a 190. They were two strokes ahead of seventh-place South Adams in the nine-team field and two behind fifth-place Southern Wells.
Norwell won the tournament easily with a 161, and Garrett was second at 172. Drew Imel of Norwell was the match medalist with a 35.
Gray was one of seven players tied at 41, getting back-to-back pars after a bogey on the opening hole. He added a birdie on the fifth hole, and picked up his third par of the day on No. 8 as he finished with the best score on the team by seven strokes.
Chase Wellman was second for Jay County with a two-par round of 48. Kyle Wellman birdied the par-3 sixth hole en route to a 50, and Jonathan Fennig had one par in his round of 51.
Adam Horn matched Gray's birdie on No. 5, but had no pars in his round as he shot 54.[[In-content Ad]]
