NEW CASTLE - The Jay County High School boys golf team finished sixth at Saturday's New Castle Invitational.
The Patriots finished with a 348, their second-best score for 18 holes this season.
Richmond won with a 312, and Connersville was second at 317.
Adam Gray paced the Patriots with an 82, and Justen Moser was three strokes back at 85. Chase Wellman finished with a 90, Adam Horn rounded out the team score at 91 and Jonathan Fennig had a 92.
JV baseball drops two
OSSIAN - The scores were identical Saturday as the Jay County junior varsity baseball team lost 5-3 twice to the host Norwell Knights.
Eric Homan and Mike Masters each tossed six innings in the defeats.
Skylar Petty paced the offense in game two with a single and two RBIs, and Homan doubled and scored once. John Pettus went 3-for-4 with a run in the opener, and Masters doubled and scored a run.
JV tennis is 2nd
MARION -Mizuki Saito won the No. 3 singles title, leading the Jay County junior varsity girls tennis team to a runner-up finish at the four-team Ole Miss Junior Varsity Tournament hosted by Mississinewa at Indiana Wesleyan University.
Saito gave up just four games on the day, winning her matches 10-1, 10-2 and 10-1 over Heather Fry of Lewis Cass in the championship. Kayla Martin went 2-1 at No. 2 singles to finish in second place, and the No. 1 doubles team of Becky Muhlenkamp and Emily Huntsman also posted a 2-1 mark for a runner-up finish.
Mariah Clark was 1-2 at No. 1 singles, and Katie Link and Ashley Caupp finished 0-3 at No. 2 doubles.
