BERNE — A trio carried the Patriot boys while Katie Weaver and Chelsey Minnich did the job for the Starfire girls.
Jay County’s boys track team got two wins apiece from Justin Gilbert, Joseph Vormohr and Dexter Shreve as it defeated host South Adams Monday, 69-54. Weaver was first in three events for South Adams’ girls, and Minnich won a pair as they rolled to a 79-44 victory over the Patriots.
Gilbert was the only Patriot boy to win an individual running event as he took first in both of the sprints. He led a sweep with Brandon Reynard and Dustin Harris in the 100 dash in 11.3 seconds and won ahead of Reynard in the 200 dash in 23.7.
Vormohr and Shreve combined to sweep the field events.
Shreve topped a one-two-three finish in the high jump, clearing the bar at 5 feet, six inches followed by Alex Michael and Josh Glessner. He finished first at 18 feet even in the long jump with Reynard in second place.
Vormohr dominated both the throwing events, winning by more than nine feet in the shot put at 51 feet, one inch. His discus victory came by 35 feet with a toss of 146 feet, eight inches.
