Now the Patriots will have to take their show on the road. They should have plenty of confidence in doing so.

With a 4-1 victory over the Norwell Knights Thursday, the Jay County High School boys soccer team completed its season-opening five-game home stand with a perfect 5-0 record.

The team will play its first road game Tuesday at Union City.

The Patriots wasted little time putting Norwell in a hole Thursday with Patrick Johnson scoring an unassisted goal less than seven minutes into the game. About 30 seconds later Brad Horn made it 2-0, and Isaac Poole added a goal midway through the opening half.

Norwell picked up its lone score with 12:10 to go before halftime, but Poole got the only goal of the second half on an assist from Horn for the final margin.

Poole's six shots on goal were a team high for Jay County, which out-shot the Knights 12-5. Horn and Johnson each took two shots on goal.

Adam Daniels totaled four saves.

The Patriots' junior varsity team also defeated Norwell, 1-0. Carlos Esquivel scored the lone goal for the JCHS (3-1), and Austin Duncan made five saves.
