PORTLAND — Chad Keen tossed another gem, and fellow senior Eric Somers blasted a home run to lead the Patriots to their second straight win Wednesday night.
The Jay County baseball team pulled to within a game of .500 with Keen and Somers leading the way to a 5-2 victory over the South Adams Starfires. The Patriots are now 11-12 on the year and will close the regular season today at Bellmont.
Keen racked up another double-digit strikeout game, sitting down 13 South Adams batters. He allowed just two hits, and both Starfire runs were unearned.
Somers hit a solo home run and was one of seven Patriots to each get one hit. Rhett Retter had a hit and two RBIs, and Trent Bailey had a hit and two runs.
Justin Caffee paced the Starfires with a hit, a run and three stolen bases. Kyle Alberson scored the other South Adams run, and Will Grandlinard had the other hit.
